Julia Roberts and Clive Owen are set to star in “Duplicity,” a Universal Pictures drama that was written and will be directed by Tony Gilroy. Jennifer Fox is producing with Laura Bickford.

Roberts and Owen are re-teaming after pairing in the Mike Nichols-directed “Closer,” in which they played a married couple that clashed over her infidelity.

“Duplicity” offers the chance for the same kind of sparks in a caper pic set in the world of big business. They play longtime lovers who happened to work as spies on opposite sides. They team up to stage an elaborate con to rip off corporations and steal a valuable product.

The film will begin production in March, and is Gilroy’s second directing effort following the George Clooney-starrer “Michael Clayton.” Gilroy previously wrote three “Bourne Identity” films for Universal.

Roberts will next be seen starring with Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman in the Nichols-directed “Charlie Wilson’s War.” Owen, who just opened in “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” takes the job after starring in the Tom Tykwer-directed “The International.”

Bickford is producing “Guerilla” and “The Argentine,” back-to-back films on Che Guevara that are being directed by Steven Soderbergh and star Benicio Del Toro.

Actor Clive Owen takes a break from filming with Julia Roberts and walks from the set of ‘Duplicity’ to his trailer located at 91st Street and Fifth Avenue on March 26, 2008 in New York City, New York. Clive is nicely wrapped up considering the temperature in New York City at the moment is around a chilly ten degrees celsius.

Giamatti will join Julia Roberts, Clive Owen and Tom Wilkinson in Duplicity.

Giamatti will play an industrialist engaged in a fierce game of corporate one-upmanship against a rival titan, played by Wilkinson (who plays Benjamin Franklin in John Adams). Roberts and Owen play two spies-turned-corporate operatives who work on opposite sides but are having a clandestine love affair. Billy Bob Thornton had been in talks for the businessman role.

Tony Gilroy will direct Duplicity off a script he wrote.

Clive Owen and Julia Roberts are back together again, and it’s about time. Of course, we mean on-screen. (What were you thinking?)

We fell in love with them as the philandering Larry and Anna in 2004’s creepy, dark,
what-a-tangled-lusty-sexy-web-we-weave film Closer.

And after one glimpse of this photo, on the New York set of Duplicity yesterday, well, we fell all over again. Sorry Danny Moder, we can’t wait to see Julia and Clive get closer again.
